Coffee shots, Karate chops, and hopefully your nan's ANZAC cookies.

Kia Ora Dabblers!

Ooh mateys, she (me) doesn't like talking about the weather, but dayum that felt like a sudden change, right?!
Guess it's time to start thinking about under-cover hobbies (or undercover hobbies, I suppose? Not an innuendo! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ)...?!

Apparently โœจNicolaโœจ didn't get this memo, and is about to embark on a cross-country charity jaunt on a speedy mouse + oversized cheese roll...
Keep reading, all will become clear (as the frozen mud she'll be riding through), and how you can help, if you wish!

๐Ÿ‘‹ Name: Nicola

๐Ÿ’– Whatโ€™s your hobby/current obsession? Creating a costume for the moped I'll ride in the Tranzalpine Scooter Safari. Raising money for the Cancer Society.
I make weird stuff things that make people laugh out loud. Made from skills I've gathered over a lifetime of dabbling in all sorts or creative adventures.

๐Ÿงƒ Fuel of choice while dabbling: Chocolate and Vodka

๐Ÿ† "My holy grail tool/material/gear I canโ€™t live without, is ___"? My hands. I always think I could lose a leg but never my hands

๐Ÿ“ Fave local spot to get your fix: Homegrown Gallery upstairs at the Art Centre and Mitre 10

๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Whatโ€™s something people assume about your hobby โ€” and are absolutely wrong about? That I would even do such a thing. It is pretty random. Building a costume on a motorbike. Then riding said bike anywhere let alone over the southern alps, in the Winter

๐Ÿ’ก Your top tip or one piece of advice for someone wanting to dabble? Try everything. Your Kete should be filled with all sorts of skills. You never know which one you might need

๐Ÿ’Ž What does this hobby give you that "normal" life doesnโ€™t? A really random creative outlet. I love the problem solving involved. Like currently I'm trying to figure out how to attach feet to the bottom of a mouse body. Made from papier-mรขchรฉ and spray foam. So fun!

๐Ÿ™Œ Where can we find out more? Here's the link to my fundraising account https://scootersafari.co.nz/nicolagarlick
โ€‹

"I've made a chicken bike, Flintstones car, and a snail. And on May 23rd I'll ride my bike with a mouse and a huge cheese roll on it, from Christchurch to Hokitika along with 250 others, all to raise money for the Cancer Society (we all know how important they are eh). Is this weird enough for you?! ๐Ÿ˜†
My other hobby turned job is turning milk bottle lids into art. Upcycled plastic"

โ€‹
(Yes, this is
absolutely the shit I LIVE for! Thank you, Nicola ๐Ÿ˜˜)

โ€‹
โ€‹Here are your quick links:โ€‹
๐Ÿค˜ Share your current hobby-obsessionโ€‹
๐Ÿ‘‹ Share your community event, business or opportunity

Now go buy 17L of paint to splash around your bedroom this (long) weekend (no idea who would do that...?! ๐Ÿ‘€ (still not an innuendo, gedouttahere, catch you next week ๐Ÿ˜˜))

Kia Ora Dabblers! Hope your weekโ€™s been swell and youโ€™ve been knee-deep in something terrifyingly new?! Or perhaps re-living something from a previous life?! (apparently rainbow fluffy ugg boots are cool again and so therefore I was cool for loving them when I sold them at Hannahs, like 23~ years ago?!) [for context; Y2K clothing market round-up from Sat, read below] Iโ€™m curious- whatโ€™s either; your longest-standing hobby, or something youโ€™ve revived from the archives? Reply and lemme know! ๐Ÿ’›...
