Heyyy Dabblers,
Happy mid-Winter! Been a weird ol' week, weather-wise, but that's enough about that (ooh how about a silly little competition?! Count the number of times someone talks to you about the weather for the next week and if you've got the most, I'll shout you a chai) ๐ฆ
Interestingly, there seems to be a bunch of stuff on tomorrow (Thursday), I could have filled the entire section just with Thursday stuff (must be something in the air...(that doesn't count)) ๐ค
Speaking of prizes, I'm squirrelling away on some giveaways, competitions and dealios, hang tight! For now, enjoy some piping hot activities and some opportunities for slowing the heck dowwwn. Take what you need, leave what you don't.

๐ฌ If I knew having a 'mobile lolly shop' was a viable "career" option as a kid, I probably wouldn't be here sending you this right now. But I have other things simmering, so if you nodded at any part of that previous sentence...? Here's your chance. Plus, by the sounds, they've already pre-booked some events and it's ready to roll. Call your boss and tell them to stick(y) it?! ๐ญ โ(maybe we could go halfsies?)

Classic Photo Booths are looking for people to operate cute photo booths/pop-up studios at weddings/parties/festivals/corp events. Got photog chops (or oodles of audacity)? Thought it might be a bit of you ๐
I went to dig up an "on this day" trivia snippet, and came across something even cooler - so, on 21st July 1916, this guy, James Wishart Campbell gave a talk (at the Canterbury Microscopical Society, of course) about Hydra Viridisโa tiny freshwater polyp. Who? A what? Why should I care?โ Well... You don't have to care, but he sounds like he was an interesting chap - a dentist by trade, and a photographer, amateur entomologist and fly-catching menace, by play. There's even a cicada named after him (Maoricicada campbelli)! โ โIf you're into local history, dentistry, photography or insects, and have 10 min, this is a neat read. The author (Lemuel) has done a great job! Unfortunately it seems like James spent the most time behind the camera rather than in front, so according to Lem, this might be him?!
Man with baby. Possibly James and Roma Campbell. Bonus dog and toy monkey. New Zealand circa 1907-1916. Lemuel Lyes Collection.

Hiii Dabblers! It's my birthday week! And what better way to celebrate than getting my hair did (by the lovely โจHannahโจ from Kitche), then taking the (b)day off to partake in a Kintsugi workshop, and then shmoozing [read: stuffing food in my face and avoiding eye contact, so no-one talks to me] at the ArchiPro Home Design evening. Aloha Dabblers,A bit of a quieter week, particularly event-wise, this week (a fair bit of slower paced stuff)...howeverrrr, we are working on an events calendar (a mixture of regular and once-off/limited time events, still all hobby/interest related), so you can forward plan, refer back to, share, and click the direct links to book/get more info, without getting lost in the weeds. LOOK OUT FOR IT NEXT WEEK!(It will be a paid feature in future, but you'll get to enjoy it for free for a while...
